Vanessa Spina is an experienced and passionate teacher whose classes both empower and inspire students of all levels. Teaching since 2001, her intelligent, playful, and nourishing sequencing is informed by years of studying alignment through Anusara yoga.
In addition to her ongoing classes in New York City, Vanessa works with private clients and teaches a course she created called "Yoga For Performance" as an adjunct faculty member in the nationally ranked New Studio/Drama division of the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

Vanessa Spina is an accomplished, resourceful and generous teacher whose classes empower and inspire yoga students of all ages and levels. Her teaching path began in 2001 in Cape Cod, MA. Immediately, she found a profound affirming purpose in the teaching of yoga reflected in her students eyes. Offering deep levels of healing, self discovery and the sweet joy of physical freedom became her core commitment to each and every student.
Returning to her native New York City shortly after September 11th, 2001 Vanessa became a founding teacher at Soho's highly regarded Vira Yoga and has been softening the hard edges of urban living for New Yorkers ever since.
Vanessa's Current WORK
In addition to her ongoing classes Vanessa works with private clients, leads workshops and retreats and teaches a course she created called "Yoga For Performance" as an adjunct faculty member in the nationally ranked New Studio/Drama division of the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
Vanessa’s background in theatre and dance is apparent in her melodious voice, her flowing sequences, and the imaginative weaving of storytelling, poetry and music into her teaching. Her yoga practice and philosophy are rooted in Anusara teachings - a methodology that honors the intrinsic alignment of body and spirit.
